Our Story
Our story began in June 2020, yes, that very same year that Covid stopped the entire world. We knew that we would be in for quite a ride, starting an events business in the midst of the world shutting down, but it was a bit of a now or never decision. Krystelle, Owner and Founder of DIY Luxe Events, also had an events business for 10 years prior to this one and had shut it down in 2017 to pursue a career in Aviation instead. Once Covid hit, the Aviation industry came to a complete stop, all staff were stood down and the company she was working for went into administration.
Simultaneously, Krystelle and her 2 children had just fled from 13 years of Domestic Violence, and was in the process of setting up a new life and selling the family home where her items from her previous events business were still stored. This meant that everything had to be moved out of there ASAP. That also meant that she needed to make the decision whether to sell off the old business stuff or start up a new events business somewhere else. Obviously you can figure out which option she went with. So she found a small warehouse, and paid 6 months rent in advance thinking that would be enough to get through the Covid Pandemic, and then buckled up for the ride. The ride went a lot longer than 6 months and the ride was a lot rougher than anyone could ever have anticipated it to be, but after a lot of hard work, sleepless nights and a whole lot of determination to push through and not give up, we made it through and are still here today, stronger than ever.
We have so many plans and goals for the future and have the most incredible clients that we could not have made it through without. So that is us, and how we came to be, and we are so excited to see what the future has in store for us!
